Lessons from homecoming

Dance is the language of joy; it allows us to express our joy, or length from it, in a way that builds community and leaves a smile lingering on your face. As I was dancing last night, I realized there are a few valuable lessons I can learn from dances (homecoming specifically). So, without further adieu, here are my lessons from homecoming, the dance and the week.

  1. You look beautiful in anything

Before the dance, I freaked out about how I looked because something just didn’t feel right. I didn’t like the way I looked. But once I got my hair curled and went to the dance, everything fell right into place. My friends and I had the best time and danced the night away. So, the moral of the story is that you look beautiful (or handsome) always and should just go have fun.

  1. Just go have fun

Perfect transition haha. At the end of the night, I didn’t start cleaning up because I wanted to dance till the final song. I don’t feel guilty for doing that. We still cleaned up quickly and I got to have fun till the very end. So, in summary, you should always just go have fun no matter what.

Now, these are some of my lessons from the week.

  1. Go with the flow

From my camera dying in the middle of the pep rally to sprinting to the parade late, there were lots of little shocks throughout the week. But it was okay. I just adapted and changed my plans (even if that meant sprinting in both cases). So when life throws you a challenge, just adapt and change your approach. Chances are, you’ll get something better because of it (I got some great pictures while I was sprinting, find them on @billiesbroadcast on instagram).

  1.  Hard work pays off (again)

I know I’ve said this lesson a million times, but I’m really proud of myself so I want to say it again. I worked really hard to post and get pictures during the week and as a result, my club’s follower count almost doubled by the end of the week. So, if you have a vision, do the work to make it happen.

Overall, it was an amazing week and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Thank you to everyone who made it happen and to all of you who will read this; I hope you got some good lessons out of it.

Until next time,
Ella Greene.
