Teenage Tuesdays
Sometimes we hate things.

📣Welcome to the Whinypaluza column called Teenage Tuesdays, written by Rebecca's daughter Ella Greene, who is 16 years old!
➡️Look forward to a new blog from Ella from a teenage perspective on Tuesdays!
Sometimes we hate things.
Sometimes we hate things. Whether that’s insects, people, or an ideology. Hatred is inevitable. The important thing is that we don’t act on it.
We have to see past our opinions of anything, and be able to be civilized around it. The way to do that is to put things into perspective. Our perspectives are incredibly limited, we only see the world though our miniscule point of view, which is what leads us to hatred. So to ensure we don’t act on it, we have to try and see things from other’s perspectives. The way to do this is to practice and try to put yourself in other’s shoes.
When you do that, I find it’s easier to put your hatred aside. However, sometimes it's not. Sometimes we have a hard time even seeing the world through someone else’s eyes because we are so blinded by our emotions. That’s when I know it’s time to look at myself.
I often find my hatred stems from something echoing the parts of me I don’t like. Bugs echo my jumpy-ness, certain people bring out my lack of patience, etc. So sometimes the only way to cure hatred is to work on what we don’t like about ourselves. We can never stop striving to improve.
So, in order to fix hatred, sometimes we have to take a deep breath and try to fix ourselves. It’s truly the only thing we can do because we only have control over ourselves. The world is going to keep spinning, and people are going to keep doing what they want, so if something bothers us, the only way to fix it is through ourselves.
Until next time,
Ella Greene.
