Happy Monday!
I am hoping that we can work this week on taking the stress out of things.
This week is Homecoming / Spirit week for my kids. I went dress shopping with my daughter. I had fun seeing her try on a bunch of dresses. She wanted to look at shoes and jewelry too. I shopped the day away with her telling myself to enjoy this journey. Did I want to be in my pool on one of our last 80 degree days - 100%. However, I embraced the shopping and enjoyed my time with my daughter.
Today begins the five day long spirit week of themes each day. So many moms have complained to me about spirit week. Moms have long lists of things to do every day and don't necessarily want to add any spirit wear to their list of items to accomplish this week. The best is when I run into other moms at Party City looking for things for their kids to wear the next day.
First, you are never alone. There is another mom out there cursing spirit week with you. Second, I want to challenge you to think about this differently - what if we have fun with this. What if we see our kids excitement and go with it. It makes school more fun for our kids.
If your kids don't want to dress up - I don't want you to spend one second worrying about this.
If your kids want to get all decked out - what do you have at your house that they can wear? Do you have time and money to shop for something? Did you plan ahead and order stuff? I have a bunch of stuff arriving tomorrow that will be too late. I am just going to laugh about it! Let's take the stress out of it.
How can you make this week less stressful for yourself? How can you enjoy the journey a little more?
