❄️Winter break can be a lot.

🧣The schedules shift, the energy gets big, and when it’s freezing (holy wind!), we all end up a little more “together” than usual.

🚪If you’re stuck inside with your kiddos today, I wanted to share a few co-regulation reminders that help me every single year.

👏I’ll be honest: I don’t always get it right. But I never stop trying, and I want to pass that encouragement to you today.

📜Here are a few “DON’Ts of co-regulation” that are worth taping to the fridge this week (credit to The Contented Child for this great list):

1️⃣Don’t match their meltdown. Your calm is their anchor, not their echo.
2️⃣Don’t rush the feelings away. “Calm down” usually isn’t calming. Sit with them first, fix later.
3️⃣Don’t take it personally. Big feelings aren’t an attack, they’re a call for help. (This one is the biggest for me.)
4️⃣Don’t talk too much. Regulate first, reflect later. Less words, more warmth.
5️⃣Don’t forget your own regulation. Breathe, reset, then connect.

🕯️Stay warm and safe, and if today is one of those “everybody’s cranky” days, jut know that you’re not alone.
